2008 has been designated the United Nations "International Year of the Potato". The Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI), together with the Potato Council, will celebrate this event by holding a conference in Dundee.
The conference will address global opportunities, challenges and solutions across the whole potato industry. The Improving International Potato Production Conference (IIPPC) follows the UK's largest annual potato field event, "Potatoes in Practice" (Thursday, 7th August 2008).
Among the speakers will be Dr Pamela Anderson, the Director General of the International Potato Centre in Peru, Dr Mike Storey, the Head of Research and Development at the Potato Council Ltd. and Ian Hope-Johnstone, Group Manager, Agricultural Development, PepsiCo International.
The rapidly increasing importance of China in the global potato industry will be recognised by the presence at the conference of a high level Chinese delegation. Its members will be visiting the UK as part of the UK – China Development Dialogue 2008. An industry and conference dinner will be held in the Apex Dundee City Quay Hotel following "Potatoes in Practice".
Payments can be done online if paid by credit card. If you require an invoice to arrange payment by your company, please register online and at payment stage, contact the Conference Organiser. Registrations submitted online, but not paid, will be regarded as provisional, and do not guarantee a place until full payment has been received. Cheques should be made payable to Integrity International Events Limited.
Registrations paid in full, but cancelled at any point up to and including 18 July 2008 will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50%. Registrations cancelled at any point from 19 July onwards will be charged in full, but substitutions may be made at no additional cost.
